Privacy Policy
The Short Version
VetClaims AI runs entirely on your own computer. We don’t operate servers that store your records. We don’t run analytics on you. We don’t have a database of your queries. The only outbound traffic the app generates is (a) your own queries to Anthropic under your own API key, (b) a one-time license verification with Gumroad when you activate, and (c) a public BVA decision search through the VA’s own website. That’s it.
What We (the seller) Collect
Your purchase information — through Gumroad, when you buy the product. Gumroad collects your email address and payment details to process the sale. Gumroad’s privacy policy governs that data; we do not have access to your payment details.
Your license activation — on first run the app sends your license key to Gumroad’s verification API. Gumroad confirms the key is valid and tells the app it can run. Gumroad logs this verification.
Nothing else. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to your VA records, queries, generated documents, notes, ratings, name, or any health information.
What the App Sends to Third Parties
- Anthropic (Claude AI): when you ask the app a question, the relevant excerpts from your records (not all of them — just what’s relevant to that question) are sent to Anthropic’s API under your personal API key. Anthropic’s privacy policy and data-use terms govern that traffic. Anthropic has stated that API customer data is not used to train models by default.
- Gumroad: license verification on first run, and once a month afterward in the background, to confirm your license is still valid and not refunded.
- U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs: when the app searches for relevant Board of Veterans’ Appeals precedent, it queries the VA’s public BVA decision search at
efts.va.gov. The search query (e.g. “tinnitus secondary anxiety”) is sent. Your personal records are not. - Hugging Face (one-time, optional): the embedding model is bundled inside the installer. The app does not contact Hugging Face during normal use.
The app makes no other network requests.
Where Your Data Lives
Everything — your records, your queries, the AI’s answers, your notes, your generated documents, your activated-license cache, your saved API key — is stored exclusively on your computer in %LOCALAPPDATA%\VetClaimsAI\ (typically C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\VetClaimsAI\).
To delete everything, uninstall the app and check the “also delete my personal data” box on the uninstall prompt, or manually delete the VetClaimsAI folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%.
Children
This product is not directed at children. The intended user is a U.S. military veteran or someone assisting one.

Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and announce changes on the product page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
